Step Five

Honeymoon!

Or as we like to call it our mini-moon. We took the rest of the weekend as a short honeymoon.

Saturday morning we did not want to partake in the hotel breakfast, so we found a local gem called Kitchen Little. It was right on the water and, even though it was hot, we sat outside and watched the ships going by.

The place had a sense of humor, and the staff were all quite unique. It was a very East Coast experience, and it was lovely!

From where we were sitting, Steve and I had a great view of the water and boats.

If we would have been thinking straight, we probably should have sat in the air conditioning.

The food was really good, and the company was even better.

From there we went to the Mystic Aquarium.

We headed straight for the jellyfish as they are the coolest. We didn't stay for long because there were many screaming children, lots of people, and I was starting to feel sick.

I took about a thousand jellyfish pictures, but here are a few with us too!

Since I was feeling so ill, we went back to the hotel and played games. We played Small World from Days of Wonder as well as a game we had picked up in Germany 6 years before.

When we brought it back, we searched everywhere for English instructions, but couldn't find them. While preparing for the trip, I thought it would be fun if we could finally play the game. I found instructions easily this time, and we had a blast. Turns out it is a really fun game.

All that maneuvering for the votes of the senators made us hungry, so we searched for another local place that had good online reviews. We found Fuji Japanese Steakhouse. It was huge, and looked like it was set up to handle massive amounts of bar, habachi, sushi, and regular dining customers. Because there were fireworks happening somewhere in the area we pretty much had the place all to ourselves.

We had some yummy food and drinks, and got tons of attention from the chef and bartender, who was acting as our waitress.

I liked the atmosphere here so much that I took a picture to post to Facebook.  Turns out when you are doing super-secret elopement you shouldn't post pictures of your new husband with his wedding ring prominent in the picture.  I took it down 5 min after posting, just to be safe.  Probably no one would have noticed, but we wanted to get the word out to family before anyone else.

To finish off our day we went to see Brave. We enjoyed the movie.

The next morning, again not wanting to eat the hotel food, we decided to brave downtown Mystic. Mystic Pizza had just opened for the day, and we just had to go. Steve had never seen Mystic Pizza (the movie), so the week before our elopement, I made him watch it.

There is memorabilia from the movie as well as tv's playing the movie everywhere. There is also random Hollywood stuff mixed in.

The reviews were very mixed for the pizza, but going for the atmosphere alone was worth it.

Turns out the pizza is quite tasty. We did half and half and both turned out yummy. Here is Steve photobombing with his ring. They had a nice holder thingy that made the toppings stay out of the middle and kept the crust nice and crunchy.

With the day heating up we decided to head home.  At this point, we had both caught a cold and were ready to relax and sleep.

That is the end of our little story.  It is also the beginning.
